fuel from plastic waste

A few years ago I read an article about how filipinos would distill small amounts gasoline from plastic waste like soda bottles. The process was smelly, dirty and crude but could turn out fuel for motorcycles, generators and such.

Would anyone know of DIY plans for such a still?

In the meantime I thought this was an interesting way to extend biodiesel:

What seems more practical would be to distill out the hydrocarbons, but feed them hot into an IC engine after filtering, as you would for a wood-burning car.

True - but if your stuck without fuel it would be a way to Mcguyver yourself to the next source of fuel. After all this is a survival forum :)

I did see site that mentioned this very idea. Makes a wood gas engine even more flex-fuel.

A couple of years ago there was a guy who invented a system to recycle 100% of tyres. He was able to extract raw oil as well as a whole raft of things in addition to the actual rubber.

I wonder if part of his method could be used for the plastic or PET products?
